StandBy Mode Pro is free on Android, with optional Premium features for more widgets, customization, fullscreen weather, and an ad-free experience.
Downloading and setting up StandBy Mode Pro doesn't cost anything, but sooner or later the upgrade screen shows up, and the question comes with it: is it actually worth paying for?
The answer depends on what you already use. Some of the app's most-viewed screens, like the Digital Clock With Date and the Retroflip clock, are free. Others, like Command Center and the Widget Rotator, are Premium-only.
To decide whether it's worth subscribing, it helps to know exactly what sits on each side of that line. Here's the direct answer.
Yes. StandBy Mode Pro follows a freemium model: the download is free, with in-app purchases, and Premium is an optional upgrade. The free version shows ads, and Premium removes them. You can also try Premium before committing, through the free trial of the annual subscription, where that plan is available.
Most of what people open most is free. Eight of the ten most-viewed screens in the app in September 2026 were free, including the Digital Clock With Date, the most-viewed screen of all.
Among the free clocks, the AMOLED Clock is free for everyone, with no Premium unlock needed, and Retroflip is included in the free download from Google Play. The Dementia Clock is free too. The weather widget also has a no-cost version, as long as it's combined with another widget inside Duo mode: in that format, it's free for every user.
Premium unlocks the screens and widgets left out of the free version. Command Center is part of Premium and brings several widgets together on a single screen. The Widget Rotator is also a Premium feature, alongside the Segmented clocks, which were the third most-viewed screen in September 2026. Striking Calendar follows the same rule: it's a Premium widget with no free equivalent. Anyone who wants weather taking up the whole screen also needs to subscribe, since the three fullscreen layouts are Premium, even though the combined version is free.
Premium also removes ads from the entire app, on every screen.
Premium comes in two forms: an annual subscription with a 3-day free trial, and a lifetime purchase with no trial period. Refunds are available up to 7 days after payment, so there's room to try it out before deciding whether to keep it.
The annual subscription isn't available in every country, so the options you see on Google Play may vary by region.
StandBy Mode Pro gives away plenty for free: most of the screens people open most, plus the combined weather widget. Premium comes in when you want to go further, with more screens and customization, and no ads in the way. Where the annual plan is available, the 3-day trial and the 7-day refund window make it easy to test.

Want this on your phone? StandBy Mode Pro turns your charging phone or tablet into a clock and widget display. It runs on Android 7 or newer and is free to download, with in-app purchases.
