StandBy Mode APK: Is There a Safe One?

"Where can I download the StandBy Mode Pro APK? Is the premium unlocked version safe?"

Short answer: there is no official StandBy Mode APK outside Google Play, and you don't need one. The app is free to download and free to use. The "premium unlocked" and mod APKs floating around on other sites are not from us.

StandBy Mode is an Android app by Zetabit Tech that turns a charging phone or tablet into a smart display. Google Play is the only place we publish it. This is a question I get asked a lot, so here is the full picture: what those APKs actually are, what you give up by installing one, and what is free versus Premium in the real app.

Is there an official StandBy Mode APK download?

No. StandBy Mode is published only on Google Play. We don't host an APK on our website, we don't upload to APK mirror sites, and we don't distribute through Telegram channels. If a page offers a "StandBy Mode Pro APK download", it didn't come from Zetabit Tech.

The good news: the official app is free. Install it from Google Play, plug your phone in, turn it sideways, and it starts. No account, no root, no sideloading.

What is a "premium unlocked" or mod APK, really?

A mod APK is a copy of an old version of the app, taken apart by a third party, changed so the Premium check always says "paid", and re-signed with their own key. That last part matters more than it sounds. Here is what it means for you:

1. No updates, ever. Google Play can only update apps signed with the developer's key. A mod is signed with someone else's, so it stays frozen on whatever version they grabbed. Every new clock, widget and fix we ship after that never reaches you.
2. Frozen on an old build. Recent releases added the AMOLED Clock, the World Clock widget and the Pixel 11 Charge screensaver. A mod from a few months ago has none of them, and the next release won't land either.
3. No idea what's inside. Someone rebuilt the package and you can't see what they added. The permissions StandBy Mode asks for (overlay, notifications, photos) are exactly the ones you don't want in the hands of a stranger's build.
4. No support. When something breaks, I can't help. A mod doesn't match any version I can test against, and the first fix is always "install the real one".
5. It doesn't fund the next feature. The roadmap is community-voted on UserJot and paid for by Premium. Mods take from that pool and give nothing back.

What's free and what's Premium in StandBy Mode?

The free app is a complete smart display, not a trial. Here is how the split works:

1. Free: 45 screens and widgets, including clock faces, the Photo Frame, media controls for Spotify, YouTube Music and Deezer, Auto-Start on Charge, Night Mode and Burn-in Protection.
2. Premium: 51 more screens (advanced clocks like the Retroflip, Matrix and Segmented clocks, Command Center, Widget Rotator), live weather, deeper customization, and no ads.
3. How you pay: once through lifetime purchase or an yearly subscription. It's tied to your Google account, so it comes back when you reinstall or switch phones. Once you upgrade to Premium you get access to everything.
4. How many devices: Once you purchase the premium you can use it in as many devices as you like, as long as they use the same Google account.

If you only want a nice clock on the nightstand, the free version already does that. Premium is for people who want the whole catalog. Either way, the install is the same one from Google Play.

Right now Google Play is the only supported way to install StandBy Mode, and Premium runs on Google Play billing. I know that leaves some Huawei devices and de-Googled phones out, and I'd rather tell you that straight than point you to a mirror site. How do I check that my copy is the real one?

1. Long-press the StandBy Mode icon and tap App info.
2. Tap App details in store. If it opens the Google Play listing with Zetabit Tech as the developer, you have the real app.
3. If there's no store link, or the developer name is anything else, it's a repackaged copy. Uninstall it and grab the real one.

Is StandBy Mode Pro free?

Yes. The core app is free to download and free to use on Google Play, with 45 free screens and widgets. A one-time Premium unlock adds 51 more screens, live weather and removes ads. There is no subscription and no trial period that expires.

Does the mod APK get updates?

No. A mod is signed with a different key from the official app, so Google Play cannot update it. It stays on the version the modder copied, and every later clock, widget and fix is missing.

Can I move Premium to a new phone?

Yes. Premium is a Google Play purchase tied to your Google account. Install StandBy Mode from Google Play on the new phone, sign in with the same account, and the unlock is restored.
